Quality maternal healthcare is not readily accessible to many women in India due to inadequate infrastructure and a lack of privacy. This undermines trust in healthcare facilities, dissuading women from seeking necessary care before, during, and after childbirth, posing serious risks to maternal and infant health.

Recognizing the importance of maternal health in national development and its role in promoting equity and poverty reduction, the CII Foundation has implemented targeted interventions to strengthen health delivery by improving infrastructure at district-level hospitals and health centers. A pilot project was launched to create a model maternity ward for post-natal care at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. The model post-natal ward was inaugurated by Ms. Vidadala Rajini, Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education, Andhra Pradesh.
